The following travel photographs were taken in the spring of 2008 at the Chichicastenango market in Guatemala. They are of Mayan women eating ice cream, song birds in cages, Guatemalan woman selling vegetables, cooking pots, and Guatemalan food.

The Mayan market at Chichicastenango takes place every Thursday and Sunday. There are tourist shuttles from Antigua on these days which leave at 7AM and return at 2PM, or there are plenty of cheap local buses. The town's full name is Santo Tomas Chichicastenango and is in the El Quiche department of Guatemala, and lays at an elevation of 1,965 meters above sea level.

Guatemalan food. Fried chicken, fried, potatoes, and French fries. I like the food in Guatemala. It is really simple. Just take a chunk of food and fry it up.
